This 20-minute track workout can help you train for a 5k race. Warm up by running 800 meters (two laps), or about 4 to 5 minutes. Run three 1,000-meter sets at a rate that is 3 to 5 seconds faster For not running for 15 years and going out and running a 5k in that time at your age, that is excellent. Again, taking into account you haven't run for 15 years. If you were a competitive 50 year old, as in making the podium for your age in the last few races I did, you'd need a sub 20 minute 5k as a 50 year old. 2. shifty2268.
20:30 is a good time for a freshman girl. Not excellent, but certainly not a bad place to start. That being said, there are plenty of girls who start out at around 20 minutes for a 5k who can

At your current weight, a 20 minute 5k isn't likely. If you can drop 19kg slowly you should be able to take over 4 minutes off your 5k time. At this weight, with good training, I think the goal becomes highly achievable for most males under 50 years old who are able to train consistently without injuries. 6. filipsize. Some describe it as "comfortably hard". Warm up then do 20 minutes at that pace, or alternatively you can split it into long intervals. Intervals - these are usually done at 5k pace or a little faster, stuff like 1k repeats with 2 minutes rest. Aim for 15-20 minutes of total work.
I’m only about 5”5 and increased my mileage up to about 25 a week, after a couple of weeks at that I ran a 5k in 20:08. I’m sure if I kept the mileage up for longer I’d have been able to break 20 mins, but an injury and life got in the way so I’m trying to get back into a routine again. Good luck, and well done on the 21 minute 5k!
A 20:00 5k is very respectable for a 56-year-old male. Having run lots of 5Ks as a 40+ male, I have seen very, very few 55+ guys break 20:00. In most races, the age group winner for 55-59 is
\nis a 20 minute 5k good
Been feeling really good lately so I thought I’d pick a flat course and really see where I was at speed wise and BOY does mileage pay off. A bit of background/thoughts for those interested, only started running January 2019 and ran a 30 minute 5k at the end of that month. Ran a sub-1 hour 10k in feb 2019 and a sub-2 half in March/April. zQPFD.
